finally
Exploring the full costs of prohibition is not a pleasant experience. It very quickly becomes obvious that prohibition has at best limited and at worst damaged almost every aspect of our lives. Through it all the waste of potential cries out as being the highest cost of all. The real crime of any form of oppression is in robbing humanity of the potential of that or those who are oppressed. When we neglect people, let them starve or be imprisoned we harm ourselves. How many potential Einsteins and Shakespeares have died in dusty fields, their unseen genius lost to us forever? By prohibiting drug use we deny ourselves of that which drug use has to offer us.
This is all pretty dark and it is true that situation does not look good for us. However it is worth remembering that drug use has always been a part of humanity. Just look at what you hold in your hands and in your lungs. After all the time, money and effort that prohibitionists have spent we are still here, and deep down even they know what we take for granted. As long as there are people, people will smoke weed.
So there you are, hope you enjoyed my work, please feel free to comment on this or any other posts. As of tomorrow it's back to regular ramblings including Blair's desperate attempts to placate the anti-poverty movement before the G8 meeting in the hope that they won't embarrass him and the next instalment of the Trisha saga...
